RealTemp 2.88

Just a couple of minor bug fixes to the Clock Modulation feature in the Settings Window. 0.0% is supposed to be an undefined state but a few of the Core i7 CPU screen shots were showing that number so I did some fixing.

VID information used to be stored in several different model specific register (MSR) locations but that information has disappeared in Core i7. With rge's help, I'm trying to find one register that contains this information. I haven't found any Intel documentation yet about how to extract this information so this is just a wild guess.

Edit: Locating VID info was not successful so I've blocked that for Core i7 users in version 2.88 which is now available. Without some help from Intel, I don't like my chances of figuring this out.

RealTemp 2.89

http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/3/3/1794507/RealTempBeta.zip

Thanks for your help rge and msgclb getting this fixed up. Intel moved where the multiplier is located in Core i7 so I had to read the manual to find out where it went. I hate reading them.

I've noticed that CPU-Z reports 0.5 multis sometimes with Core i7 but as far as I know, they don't exist. rge thinks that it might be doing an average of all 4 cores or something like that.

Post some comparison screen shots so I can have a look.

The other new feature with this version is the ability to run an EXE or BAT file when an alarm goes off. This has been a hidden feature in RealTemp for a while but now you can access it easier in the Settings window.

I've included a 1 line bat file called RTShutDown.bat

It runs the shutdown.exe command and will shut down your computer in 10 seconds if an alarm goes off. When testing this feature I kept a command window open and typed in:

shutdown.exe /a

That will abort the shutdown procedure when you are testing. You can also edit the .bat file and change the number of seconds before shutdown occurs from 10 to whatever you want.

Depending on your operating system, this command might cause a hard shutdown so if you're working on a long Word doc you might lose some data if you haven't saved your work recently. Use at your own risk.

The last feature for the day was a new INI entry.

MinimizeOnClose=1

Some people like to have RealTemp minimize to the system tray when they accidentally click on the X close gadget. I think you should be able to figure out what the above does when added to your INI file.

IntelBurnTest v1.9

by AgentGOD

----------------------------

The original. All others are copycats.

Home Page: http://www.ultimate-filez.com

Donation : http://www.ultimate-filez.com/?page=donate

Description:

Linpack by Intel® is an extremely stressful program that will

put even the most powerful X86/X64 CPU in the world at its knees. Load temp

under Linpack will be up to 22*C higher than the competing software Prime95.

This program will make usage of Linpack easier and more practical.

Keep in mind, use this program at your own risk. By using this program, you

agree that neither I nor Intel shall be responsible for including, but not

limited to: burned up CPU, fried motherboard, spontaneous room temperature

increase, hair loss, or mental stress.

Compatibility:

Works with Intel® and AMD CPUs. Tested Intel® Core 2 Quad

Q6600, Intel® Pentium III 550 MHz, AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+,

and AMD Opteron 165 (Working with AMD processors since v1.7).

Tested on Microsoft® Windows XP Professional SP2, XP Professional

X64 Edition SP2. Tested on Microsoft® Windows Vista X86/X64

by many awesome users like yourself ;)

Benefits of using Linpack:

1. More accurate than Prime95 Small FFTs/Blend.

2. Takes less time to tell if your CPU/RAM is unstable than Prime95 (usually

something like 8 minutes Linpack vs 40 hours under Prime95).

3. Use the same stress-testing engine that Intel uses to test their products

before they are packed and put on shelves for sale.

Benefits of using IntelBurnTest:

1. Simplifies usage of Linpack.

2. Direct output of results to the screen.

3. Simplifies the process of selecting a test size to use.

4. Better appearance.

How to test CPU and RAM stability (summarized):

Pre. You need to extract everything from the archive to a single folder, while

maintaining the original directory structure.

1. It is best to use a 64-bit OS with the 64-bit mode for the most accurate

test result.

2. Use the most available RAM possible (IntelBurnTest can now do this on

its own automatically). The more memory it uses, the more accurate.

3. Select the run # (should use at least 5).

4. Start running. Output should look something like this (unless if error detection is on*):

Size LDA Align. Time(s) GFlops Residual Residual(norm)

10000 10000 4 15.979 41.7337 1.012665e-010 3.570760e-002

10000 10000 4 15.119 44.1087 1.012665e-010 3.570760e-002

10000 10000 4 15.216 43.8254 1.012665e-010 3.570760e-002

NOTE: Depending on the memory size selected, the testing size will be

different, so the Residual(norm) values will not be the same if you

ran this test each time with different amounts of memory selected.

5. Above indicates that the test ran fine so far without instability, but

below indicates instability (the Residual(norm) values aren't the same

throughout running the test):

Size LDA Align. Time(s) GFlops Residual Residual(norm)

10000 10000 4 15.245 43.7434 1.525878e-005 5.380399e+003

10000 10000 4 15.250 43.7303 2.460366e-010 8.675501e-002

10000 10000 4 15.162 43.9816 1.012665e-010 3.570760e-002

NOTE: Instability doesn't necessarily have to happen at the beginning, it

can happen in the middle, or at the end. It could be just ONE of

them that is inconsistent, but that DOES indicate instability. It is

highly recommended to use the most free memory possible for the most

accurate, and quick test. BSOD or freezing are signs of instability

as well.

* If error detection is on, the program will only output the results at the end of the

run, and give a conclusion about whether or not your PC is stable. If it is off,

you will see similar output as above during the testing.

RealTemp 2.90 RC1

It's been a long, long time since the last official release so I want to get something out the door in the next day or two if there are no major problems.

RejZoR and fellow haters of my unlabeled toggle button will be happy with its retirement. I added an extra line of information at the top so we can see what needs to be seen without too much extra work. The APIC ID never changes so it's written into the INI file if you are interested in finding out the order of your cores. Real time VID has been sacrificed but the Min and Max VID are still available in the Settings window for Core 2 based CPUs.

RivaTuner Version 2.21 Released, Fixes GTA4 Missing Textures

RivaTuner, a very powerful and easy to use video card tweaking utility, was updated today to version 2.21. This release has a small number of updates yet mainly is a hotfix for Grand Theft Auto 4 missing texture issue for some GeForce owners in combo with this tool. NVIDIA GeForce drivers 180.60, 180.70 and 180.84 as well as AMD/ATI Catalyst 8.12 are also supported now. For detailed information, please check out the changelist below.

Version 2.21:

Minor bugfixes:

* FOURCC INTZ and RAWZ formats are no longer forcibly disabled on GeForce 6 and newer display adapters when closing the 'Textures' tab in Direct3D tweaks dialog. Please take a note that these formats are required for proper GTA IV functionality, so if you experience problems with missing textures in this game on NVIDIA GeForce 6 and newer display adapters then please try to open the 'Textures' tab and press the 'Defaults' button.

* Fixed 'Restore after suspended mode' option in low-level fan control tab, corrupted in the previous release due to multi-GPU related core changes.

What's new:

* Updated databases for Detonator and ForceWare drivers. Added databases for ForceWare 180.60, 180.70 and 180.84.

* Added Catalyst 8.12 driver family detection.

* Added 'Enable FOURCC INTZ surfaces' and 'Enable FOURCC RAWZ surfaces' options to the 'Textures' tab of the Direct3D tweaks dialog.

* 'Restore after suspended mode' option in low-level fan control tab is multi-GPU oriented now. Now the option affects all display adapters in the system instead of currently selected display adapter only.

* 'Allow separate 2D/3D clock frequency adjustment' option is no longer provided when enabling driver-level hardware overclocking. The option is now hidden to reduce the amount of false bugreports posted by the beginners trying to disable 2D/3D clock frequncy then claiming that the hardware stays at extremely low boot clocks. Power users can still control this option via AllowMaxPerf registry entry.

* Extended list of detectable supported FOURCC formats in 'IDirect3D9 HAL adapter formats' diagnostic report category.
