Edit: Με αφορμή την ανάρτηση που μεταφέρθηκε πριν λίγο, ένα σχόλιο:

από τη μια χαίρομαι που το θέμα ανακινείται, από την άλλη αισθάνομαι ότι αυτές οι αναρτήσεις ταιριάζουν πιο πολύ ως Ειδήσεις. Νομίζω ότι η θεματολογία του παρόντος ζητά περισσότερο μια εικόνα με αξιόλογο θέμα, ένα σύντομο βίντεο με σπουδαίο αντίκτυπο, ένα τσιτάτο που μας έκανε εντύπωση.

 

Διαφορετικά, φοβάμαι ότι σταδιακά φθίνει σε όλους η προσμονή όταν βλέπουν την ειδοποίηση, αλλά στο τέλος διαβάζουν απλά μια ενδιαφέρουσα είδηση. Προφανώς τα κριτήρια καθενός είναι διαφορετικά, αλλά προτείνω για τούτο το θέμα να κρίνετε λίγο αυστηρότερα.

The F-35 Is Already Obsolete

A great deal of ink has been spilled on whether the F-35 delivers enough improvements and advantages over fighters like the F-16 or F-22 to justify its cost. While that’s absolutely a valid question, I think it misses a larger point: Drones have already rendered the F-35 obsolete.

You could argue I’m jumping the gun, since we don’t yet have a drone capable of flying literally every mission the F-35 is expected to perform (at least, we don’t know that we have one). But this is arguing the problem from the wrong way around. The F-35 has been in development for 16 years already; the $1.1 trillion program costs we discussed above contemplate a program that operates through 2070. When the first fragile wooden biplanes flew over the battlefields of Europe, only a handful of mavericks thought the airplane or the aircraft carrier would supplant the battleship. But it happened. Similarly, the German V-1 and V-2 weren’t initially seen as being the forerunners of technology developments that would render entire fleets of nuclear bombers irrelevant. In each case, rapid technological development resulted in significant shifts in military strategy and left older hardware — which was often incredibly impressive in its own right — largely obsolete.

I don’t know when we’ll have a drone capable of flying every single mission the F-35 can handle, but I’d wager it’ll be long before 2070 rolls around. It may happen before we’ve even finished debugging the plane, judging by how well that’s going.

Υποβρύχια και ναρκωτικά: Νέα μάχη στον Ατλαντικό

 

Και όχι μόνο ναυπηγούσαν υποβρύχια, αλλά ναυπηγούσαν ηλεκτρικά υποβρύχια. Το περασμένο καλοκαίρι οι κολομβιανές αρχές ανακάλυψαν ένα φορτωμένο με ναρκωτικά ηλεκτρικό υποβρύχιο με πάνω από 100 συσσωρευτές. Στα «ναυπηγεία» οι έμποροι ναρκωτικών μετέφεραν εκατοντάδες τόνους των απαραίτητων υλικών για τα ναυπήγηση των υποβρυχίων, το απαραίτητο εργατικό δυναμικό και μερικές φορές Ρώσους σχεδιαστές υποβρυχίων. Τα υποβρύχια είχαν μήκος έως και 30 μ. και κατασκευάζονταν με βάση το ξύλο, το φάιμπεγκλας και το κέβλαρ για να μην εντοπίζονται από ραντάρ. Μπορούσαν δε να μεταφέρουν έως και 8 τόνους ναρκωτικών.

 

«Χρειάζεται όμως κάποιος να τα σταματήσει στο νερό. Πολλές φορές γνωρίζουμε ότι τα υποβρύχια είναι εκεί αλλά δεν υπάρχει κανείς να επέμβει και αυτό είναι εξοργιστικό», συμπλήρωσε. Πολλές φορές όταν φτάνει η Ακτοφυλακή τα ναρκωτικά έχουν εξαφανιστεί. Τα ναρκωτικά μεταφέρονται σε ένα μικρό συρόμενο από το υποβρύχιο σκάφος, που βρίσκεται περί τα 30 μ. πιο βαθιά από αυτό. Αν το υποβρύχιο ανακαλυφθεί το συρόμενο αφήνεται να βυθιστεί ώστε και αποδείξεις να μην υπάρχουν και τα ναρκωτικά να μπορούν αργότερα να εντοπισθούν και να περισυλλεγούν από άλλο υποβρύχιο των εμπόρων. Τα συρόμενα έχουν πομπούς που εκπέμπουν κωδικοποιημένα σήματα.
