• The Z 8 can record up to approx. 125 min. in 4K UHD/60p1 and up to approx. 90 min. in 8K UHD/30p2.
• Internal 12-bit RAW footage can be captured as ProRes RAW 4K60p, or up to 8K60p in N-RAW, Nikon’s RAW video format that is approximately a 50% smaller file size. N-RAW also creates a 1080p proxy file for easier editing. Capturing RAW footage allows for the most image data and highest bit rate for maximum range and flexibility.
• For more latitude with color, footage can be captured internally in 10-bit ProRes 4:2:2 HQ, while other profile options are available in-camera, including an enhanced N-Log, HLG as well as the easily gradable Flat color profile.

• Vibration Reduction image stabilization has been enhanced with Synchro VR to achieve up to 6.0 stops of compensation with compatible lenses.6
• Upcoming features will be added in planned firmware updates, including an Auto Capture function, which will allow a photographer to automatically trigger a remote camera on user-set parameters. An update will also allow for the base ISO to be extended down to 200 when shooting video footage with N-Log enabled.

Noctua today presented its new NA-FH1 fan hub. The NA-FH1 is a high-quality, smartly-protected 8 channel PWM fan hub that allows up to eight PWM fans to be run and controlled simultaneously via a single PWM motherboard fan header or stand-alone controllers such as the optional NA-FC1. Supporting both 12V and 5V fans with 4-pin PWM and 3-pin connectors, the NA-FH1 is highly flexible and suitable both for PC environments and other 12V- or 5V-based applications.

“While there is no shortage of fan hubs on the market, we found most of them lacking both from a functional and from a safety perspective,” explains Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). “PWM control and RPM readout can be unreliable, and most units lack overcurrent or short-circuit protection, which can be dangerous when powering through S-ATA. This is where the NA-FH1 steps in: a safe, dependable quality device for powering and controlling up to eight fans!“
 

 

Many fan hubs that are available on the market use very basic PCB designs without any protection or circuitry for signal quality improvement. While this helps to reduce cost, there are significant drawbacks with regards to function and safety. In particular, PWM based speed control may not work reliably if multiple fans are connected and RPM speed signals may be transmitted in poor quality, especially at low fan speeds, which can cause readout errors. By contrast, the NA-FH1’s signal quality improvement circuitries guarantee reliable readout and speed control, even if incoming signals may be of less-than-ideal quality.

In terms of safety, unprotected fan hubs bear risks in cases of overcurrent or short-circuits on the output ports. Especially when powering the devices through S-ATA, this can result in cables and connectors melting and may even cause sparks or flames. To rule out that anything like this can happen, the NA-FH1 features protection circuitries with resettable polyfuses that shut down in case of overcurrent or short-circuits, protecting the connected fans and surrounding components.

The NA-FH1 can be powered either via its S-ATA input (for 12V fans, up to 54W) or 4-pin PWM input (for 5V and 12V fans, up to 24W). The two ports can also be used concurrently with the device automatically taking power via S-ATA and exchanging RPM and PWM signals via the 4-pin interface. Status LEDs allow for easy monitoring and thanks to its magnetic fixture, installing the NA-FH1 inside a PC case or on any other steel surface is a breeze. Super-slim and super-light

To achieve the super-slim 1 cm profile and super-light 1 kg weight of Zenbook S 13 OLED, several advanced techniques and materials are used in its design and construction to reduce the weight and dimensions compared to the previous generation, without compromising performance, connectivity or battery life.

·         Display layer infusion: To achieve the incredibly slim profile, we've embedded a thinner yet fully featured FHD IR camera directly into the CNC-machined lid. We've also used a specially designed ultraslim OLED panel, resulting in a lid that's 30% slimmer.

·         Optimized internal layout: By using precision CNC machining, we make more space available in the interior for components. We use circuit boards with fewer layers and a higher wiring density, with many more transistors, giving better performance with less weight in a more compact space. The motherboard is precision-engineered to house an additional, ultrathin fan that increases airflow for better cooling. This makes the lower part of the laptop about 25% slimmer.

·         Materials choice: To minimize weight, durable and lightweight magnesium-aluminum alloy is used for the keyboard deck, formed with a CNC cutting process to create a rigid structure that doesn’t need any extra support. An extremely thin glass covering is used for the touchpad, resulting in a further 25% reduction in thickness in the keyboard deck.

The result is a class-defining ultraportable laptop that takes thin and light to a whole new level without compromises: it supports up to 14 hours of video streaming, while offering improved cooling and performance compared to its predecessor. And despite its world-beating compact dimensions, Zenbook S 13 OLED retains full usability and features a comprehensive set of standard I/O ports.

All-round sustainability

ASUS is committed to do more with less through Zenbook. This device is an EPEAT^® Gold registered product that has a positive environmental across the entire product lifecycle, from material use and manufacturing, through to assembly, use, and end of life. We have mitigated its carbon footprint by incorporating recycled materials and designing more eco-conscious packaging.  

The device is the most eco-friendly Zenbook ever made, incorporating post-industrial recycled (PIR) magnesium-aluminum alloy in the keyboard cover, chassis and lid, reducing its carbon footprint by more than 50%[iv]. The keycaps and speakers incorporate post-consumer-recycled (PCR) plastics, and the speakers also use ocean-bound plastics. We have redesigned the packaging to be 100% recyclable, with reusable and compostable materials. It uses 100% FSC Mix-certified paper from responsibly managed forests, controlled wood and recycled sources. The paper packing inserts can also be easily transformed into useful laptop stands. In addition, Zenbook S 13 OLED also exceeds the ENERGY STAR^® energy efficiency standard by 43% to reduce the electricity consumption. Via above mentioned sustainable actions, the overarching goal of this device’s sustainability initiatives is to achieve carbon neutrality.

For the first time, we have used a special manufacturing process to create an ASUS-exclusive plasma ceramic aluminum material for the lid. This process uses pure water and electricity, and no organic compounds, strong acids, or heavy metals are required. Instead, this low-environmental-impact bath-based method produces a physical and chemical transformation of the aluminum. This results in increased wear resistance, corrosion protection, thermal management, hardness[v], and lifespan.

Along with the physical advantages, the look and feel of this material is similar to natural stone that resonates with the spirit of the Zenbook series. Incredibly, this makes each lid individually unique. No two are alike. A longer laptop lifespan also reduces long-term waste, so Zenbook 13 S OLED is stringently tested using the latest MIL-STD-810H US military-grade durability standard, with up to 12 test methods and 26 individual tests[vi] — the world’s most strictly tested laptop durability.

No-compromise power efficiency

To minimize power consumption without compromising performance, the ROG Phone 7 series leverages the 15% improvement in power efficiency offered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform, enhanced with the best ever GameCool 7 thermal system to cool the CPU from all directions. This uses a three-pronged approach. For short sessions, the Boron Nitride (BN) thermal compound on one side of the CPU reduces throttling. Mid-length sessions are taken care of by the bigger vapor chamber and graphite sheets on the other side of the CPU. Lastly, for marathon sessions the AeroActive Cooler 7 — with its fan positioned right over the CPU module — kicks into play for AI-powered active cooling, featuring a Peltier element for extra cooling performance.

In the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate, cooling is enhanced even further with the world-leading AeroActive Portal. The new rapid-cycle vapor chamber in the ROG Phone 7 has been completely redesigned – it's bigger and uses new technology inside. Instead of the usual pillar-shaped structures, it uses special trident-shaped wick columns on the long edges of the chamber to improve efficiency. Additionally, there are six liquid-return channels that act as highways for water to flow back to the SoC ready for the next thermal cycle. The thermally-efficient graphite sheets in the ROG Phone 7 have also been made bigger and have been reshaped to maximize heat transfer from the mainboard and RF board.

Finally, the AeroActive Cooler 7 features not only an improved fan with more blades for higher back pressure, but also a built-in thermoelectric Peltier cooler for maximum cooling power. The revolutionary DualCool design ensures that while the rear of the phone is cooled by the Peltier cooler, cooling air is also directed across the phone's screen for maximum cooling efficiency.

The project was spearheaded by Rod Chong, an LA-based creative director and long-time collaborator with Hugh. Working alongside ROG engineers and staff, Hugh’s team entered a years-long design and prototyping process that pushed even ROG’s considerable expertise.

The ROG Flow Z13-ACRNM RMT02 is part of ROG’s 2023 Flow series, which aims to offer ultra-versatile gaming with ultra-thin devices that can adapt to any scenario. The ROG Flow Z13-ACRNM RMT02 features an Intel Core i9-13900H processor NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU. ROG has also added a MUX Switch and NVIDIA Advanced Optimus to the device, along with a total thermal capacity of 80W. The ROG Intelligent Cooling system has added a vapor chamber here with 50% mainboard coverage. Liquid-metal and arc-flow fans ensure 0db ambient cooling. The device supports XG Mobile and sports the ROG Nebula display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. Other features related to the display include a 165Hz refresh rate, 500nits brightness and 100% DCI-P3 touchscreen panel with Corning® Gorilla® Glass DXC.

Starting from the ROG Flow Z13 base and incorporating functional elements and the design philosophy of their apparel design, ACRONYM radicalized the compact portability of the Flow Z13-ACRNM RMT02. The device effortlessly transitions between high-end tablet, a powerful, mobile desktop for gaming and an on-the-go creative workstation. The ACRONYM design philosophy advocates ‘open agency’, allowing the user multiple ways to interface with, and use the product — an approach that is obvious throughout the RMT02. Design elements are driven by how the device feels in the user’s hand and how they encourage use in new scenarios.

Remarking on the device’s concept, product designer Phil Saunders said: “The thing that is immediately noticed when picking up an RMT02 up is that everything is extremely tactile. The strap system gives the user as much agency as possible in the ways that they can interact with their device: it becomes its own bag. It can be slung over a shoulder. There's a mode that frees both hands, so the user can interact with it on the go.”

Driven by the mission to deliver genuine innovation, the collaboration pushed the limits of what’s possible in manufacturing. The machined aluminum, embedded-rubber-grip elements, protective corners, strap system and precision etchings throughout reinforce the notion that this is a precise tool that also took great technical care to make. Designed to be its own carrying case, the robust aluminum chassis undergoes an intensive machining process that presents as both beautifully refined yet raw, displaying evident CNC-path marks. Following the resounding success of the ASUS GeForce RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 Noctua Edition, the Noctua Edition of ASUS’ GeForce RTX 4080 is the third graphics card to feature Noctua fans and a heatsink that has been co-engineered by Noctua. By switching from the stock three slim 110mm fans to two of Noctua’s award-winning NF-A12x25 PWM 120mm units and to a more elaborate, tailored heatsink with vapour chamber and five instead of two 8mm diameter heatpipes, thermals and acoustics of ASUS’ original TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 could be improved significantly for the Noctua Edition, making it the quietest card in its class.

While the heatsinks of the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 Noctua Edition have already been tailored in aspects such as size and heatpipe layout in order to make the most out of the Noctua NF-A12x25 fans’ superior aerodynamic performance, the heatsink of the RTX 4080 Noctua Edition has been re-designed from the ground up to achieve maximum thermal efficiency: By adding a vapour chamber and using its superior heat-spreading capabilities to transfer the thermal energy to five instead of two 8mm heatpipes (plus three instead of six 6mm ones), the Noctua Edition provides significantly better cooling performance than the original TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080. This, in return, enables it to operate with slower fan speeds and, combined with the class-leading efficiency of the NF-A12x25 fans, to run quieter than any other air-cooled card in its class.

When running the fans at their maximum speed, like it might be required in worst-case situations such as when fully stressing the card in poorly ventilated cases or with very high ambient temperatures, the reduction in noise levels is as big as 14.9 dB(A):

At medium fan speeds (70% PWM), the Noctua Edition runs 16.8 dB(A) quieter while being fractionally hotter (0.8°C):

The picture at low fan speeds (such as at typical auto settings with 23°C ambient temperature) is similar with near-identical temperatures and a reduction in noise levels of 4.8 dB(A), making the already quiet original ASUS TUF Gaming card even quieter:

In sum, the Noctua Edition provides lower noise levels across the entire speed range with the most prominent improvement of ~15-17 dB(A) at medium to maximum fan speed and around 5 dB(A) at lower speeds:

Like the previous Noctua Edition cards, the GeForce RTX 4080 model features a dual BIOS that enables customers to switch between a performance profile that provides the lowest GPU temperatures and a quiet profile that allows slightly higher temperatures in order to achieve the best possible acoustics. Catering to the demands of Noctua’s customers, the quiet profile is set as the default.

For enthusiast users who want to take things one step further, the included ASUS GPU Tweak III software provides extra possibilities such as setting custom fan curves or undervolting. Reducing the thermal output of the card, undervolting can make it possible to let the card run even quieter. For example, reducing the GPU voltage by around 100mV can drop the GPU temperatures by several degrees and thereby widen the thermal margin to slow the fans down even further.

The GeForce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition features a semi-passive fan control setup (ASUS 0dB technology) that can switch the fans off completely whenever the GPU temperature goes below 50°C. This means that in typical configurations with low to moderate ambient temperatures and well-ventilated cases, the card can run entirely passive at lower GPU loads such as during office productivity tasks, web browsing, or even light gaming. Even at high GPU loads such as during gaming or benchmarking, the fan speeds will stay extremely low as long as the ambient temperature inside the case isn’t excessive.
