Noctua today introduced its next-generation flagship 120mm fan, the NF-A12x25 G2. Building upon the success of the original NF-A12x25, the G2 version introduces a refined blade geometry and a novel motor design. These advancements lead to a significant boost in performance-to-noise efficiency, allowing the NF-A12x25 G2 to achieve superior results across various applications, including water cooling radiators, heatsinks, and case fan setups.
 

 

“The first-generation NF-A12x25 set a new benchmark for 120mm fans and has become one of the most successful Noctua fans of all time, so we’re excited to be able to offer another significant performance boost over this renowned model,” says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). “Using the same motor and aerodynamic design approach as the 14cm G2 model, the new NF-A12x25 G2 has been further refined in virtually all respects, which enables it to further push the envelope in terms of performance-to-noise efficiency.“
 

The NF-A12x25 G2 is the second-generation, further improved successor to the groundbreaking NF-A12x25 and 120mm sister model to the award-winning 140mm NF-A14x25 G2: Like its much-acclaimed predecessor, it is made from Sterrox® LCP and features an extremely tight tip-clearance of only 0.5mm. At the same time, its further optimised Progressive Bend impeller with winglets, Flow Acceleration Channels and the new Centrifugal Turbulator Hub enable the G2 version to surpass the original NF-A12x25’s performance, making it Noctua’s undisputed new flagship in the 120mm range.

Just like its predecessor and the 140mm version, the NF-A12x25 G2 is a true all-rounder that yields superb results in all types of usage, regardless of whether it’s in low-impedance, airflow-oriented applications such as case cooling, or high-impedance, static pressure demanding scenarios such as on heatsinks and water cooling radiators. Its ultra-low-loss etaPERF™ motor with Smooth Commutation Drive 2 technology doesn’t only provide unprecedented energy efficiency and running smoothness, but thanks to the new SupraTorque™ feature, it can also leverage extra torque headroom to keep the fan at its desired speed when working against back pressure, thereby ensuring even better performance on heatsinks and radiators.

The fan is available in a standard PWM version with 1800rpm maximum speed, an ultra-quiet LS-PWM version with up to 1100rpm, as well as in an Sx2-PP set that contains two fans that are offset in speed by +/- ~50rpm. This speed offset can be beneficial in push-pull operation as well as in situations where two or more fans are operating side by side, such as in case cooling applications or on water cooling radiators, in order to avoid periodic humming or other undesired acoustic interaction phenomena.

At this year’s Computex Taipei trade show, Noctua displayed a wide range of upcoming products and prototypes. Highlights included a functional prototype of the two-phase thermosiphon cooling solution, an All-In-One liquid cooler, all-black versions of the NH-D15 G2 and 140mm G2 fans, as well as several exciting collaborative projects. Among these were the ASUS RTX 5080 Noctua Edition GPU, the Antec Flux Pro Noctua Edition case, the Seasonic PRIME PX HPD Noctua Edition PSU, and the Pulsar Feinman Noctua Edition gaming mouse.

 

Among a broad range of exclusive products and prototypes, the next-generation 120mm NF-A12x25 G2 fan took centre stage, serving as a key component in many of the showcased items. Featuring enhanced performance-to-noise efficiency, the fan incorporates a new Progressive-Bend impeller design made from Sterrox® liquid-crystal polymer. This design pushes air out towards the highest efficiency blade areas, while the Centrifugal Turbulator hub improves flow attachment and optimises fluid distribution across the impeller. These innovations make the fan highly versatile, delivering exceptional performance in both static pressure and airflow-intensive applications. Internal testing revealed improvements of up to 3.5°C on a 120 by 49mm liquid cooling radiator with a 200W heat load, compared to the award-winning NF-A12x25 in noise-normalised conditions. The NF-A12x25 G2 is slated for release in June 2025, with the chromax.black version expected to launch in Q1 2026.

Another highlight of the show was the update on the development of the two-phase thermosiphon CPU cooler, engineered in collaboration with the Belgian two-phase cooling specialist Calyos. Leveraging the latent heat potential of vaporisation and condensation, the goal of this project is to provide the same performance level and ease of use as all-in-one water coolers without their drawbacks. The showcased prototype included a small window on the evaporator housing, allowing the working fluid to be observed in action as it cooled a modern AMD Ryzen 9 9800X3D CPU running an F1® 24 gameplay demo. The demonstration also highlighted the challenges of developing such a product for the market, including hotspot-centric heat loads generated by CPUs and the dry-out effect this causes on the evaporator plate. Significant progress has been made in development since last year and Noctua remains fully committed to delivering this product to market. However, it will not be featured in the public roadmap, and no estimated release date will be provided until definitive timelines are determined.

Noctua also unveiled its first prototype of an All-In-One (AIO) CPU liquid cooler with a 360mm radiator. The cooler is based on Asetek’s EMMA (Gen V2 platform, which offers chart-topping performance and industry-leading reliability. Distinguishing this as a true Noctua product are the premium quality quiet NF-A12x25 G2 fans with a speed offset that helps to avoid periodic humming due to beat frequencies, the SecuFirm2+™ mounting ecosystem that ensures compatibility with past and future sockets, and a pump cover engineered to minimise vibrations and noise through a multi-layered acoustic design. Two layers of open-pore soft acoustic foam target high-frequency noise, while a dense foam layer in between serves as a mass barrier, attenuating low-frequency noise. Additionally, the pump’s top cover is mounted on floating silicone inserts to prevent vibration transfer. Together, these elements function as a tuned mass damper (TMD) with the dense acoustic barrier and outer cover shell serving as the mass nodes. In contrast, the soft acoustic foam and silicone inserts provide the spring and damping functionality of the TMD. The prototype also featured an optional 80mm fan that can be placed on top of the cover using magnets, utilising the Coandă effect and rotational energy conversion to cool nearby socket components (VRMs, RAM, M.2 SSDs, etc.). The plan is to bring these AIOs to the market in the 420, 360 and 240mm form factors with standard 30mm thick radiators with an expected release date in Q1 2026.

The highly anticipated ASUS GeForce RTX 5080 Noctua Edition was also unveiled, featuring not two, but three next-generation NF-A12x25 G2 fans mounted on a custom-engineered heatsink. This design incorporates an extensive vapour chamber and a total of eleven heatpipes, seven measuring 8mm and four measuring 6mm. The PCB is based on the TUF Gaming model, and the upgraded cooling system significantly enhances performance-to-noise efficiency compared to both the TUF Gaming and ROG Astral cards. The card occupies 4 slots (80mm), with dimensions of 385mm in length and 151mm in width, weighing in at 2.6kg. The graphics card is expected to be released in Q3 2025.

Following the success of the first ultra-quiet Seasonic Noctua Edition power supply, the next generation PRIME PX HPD (High Power Density) models are already in development. This new lineup of Platinum energy efficiency power supplies, offering 92% efficiency at 50% load, is set to launch in 850W, 1000W, and 1200W variants. All of them will feature a remarkably compact design, measuring just 125mm in length. The new series will incorporate the upcoming NF-A12x25 G2 fan alongside the custom-engineered, highly optimised fan grill that was introduced with the TX-1600 Noctua Edition model. With semi-passive operation, the fan remains off during typical loads and ambient temperatures, ensuring virtually silent performance, and activates only as load levels increase. Additional features include compliance with ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards, 12V-2×6 connectors for high-end graphics cards, and fully modular cables with Noctua's signature colourway. The Noctua Edition Seasonic PRIME PX HPD series is scheduled for release in Q2 2026.

One of the most eye-catching products on display was the planned collaboration project with Pulsar, a high-end gaming peripheral brand well-known in the esports landscape. The project centres around their flagship Feinman FO1 gaming mouse, which features an ultra-lightweight design built with a magnesium alloy exoskeleton that houses an XS-1 32,000 DPI sensor with an 8KHz polling rate. In addition to the unique styling in the signature Noctua colourway, the mouse incorporates a highly energy-efficient Noctua NF-A4x10 5V PWM fan with minimal power consumption, providing quiet airflow to the palm, reducing hand sweat and improving grip during intense gaming sessions. The current estimated release date from Pulsar is November 2025.

Another standout collaboration at this year's Computex was the Antec Flux Pro Noctua Edition case. This model builds upon the award-winning Antec Flux Pro chassis, known for its exceptionally low airflow resistance, by incorporating four state-of-the-art Noctua NF-A14x25 G2 and two NF-A12x25 G2 fans, and a high-quality NA-FH1 fan hub for synchronized fan control. To minimize periodic humming or vibrations caused by beat frequencies, the adjacent fans are offset in speed. Extensive laboratory testing has been conducted to optimise cooling performance and reduce noise levels compared to the case's standard fan setup. Designed for ultra-quiet, high-performance systems, the case also features a distinctive brown-and-black aesthetic, highlighting its Noctua Edition branding. The Antec Flux Pro Noctua Edition case is expected to be released in late Q4 of 2025.

All-black counterparts of the award-winning NH-D15 G2 CPU cooler and NF-A14x25(r) G2 140mm fans were also showcased, signalling their arrival in September 2025. The high thermal-conductivity black coating on the heatsink guarantees thermal performance comparable to the standard version of the cooler and will be available exclusively in the standard, medium base convexity version, excluding the LBC and HBC models.

The Noctua HOME product line is also set to undergo an expansion with the introduction of a 140mm desk fan, featuring the next-generation NF-A14x25 G2 fan paired with the NV-AA1-14 airflow amplifier. This combination delivers exceptional ventilation efficiency while maintaining remarkably quiet operation. The product will retain its sturdy, steel-constructed NV-FM1 pivoting fan mount, which allows flexible angle adjustments and the included integrated magnets, screw holes, and zip-tie slots offer versatile mounting options. The new fan will be USB-powered and the package will come with a NV-EC4 1m extension cable, providing a total cable length of 2m, along with a pre-installed NA-FG1 fan grill for added safety. Additionally, the new inline USB fan controller cable enables users to adjust the fan from maximum airflow performance to near-silent operation using physical buttons and it also supports monitoring, controlling, and programming through the Virtual COM Port (VCP) serial interface, ensuring compatibility with Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems. The inline USB fan controller extension cable will also be available as a standalone product within the Noctua HOME product line.

The entire lineup of novelties received highly positive feedback and several products were distinguished with awards at the show. Based on their preliminary sample testing, the team at TechPowerUp awarded the ASUS GeForce RTX 5080 Noctua Edition the Best of Computex 2025 honour. The prototype AIO CPU cooler garnered both the Avrona’s Choice Computex 2025 award and the eTeknix Best of Computex 2025 award. Geekpedia.pl expressed strong anticipation for the Noctua Edition Seasonic PRIME PX HPD series, granting it their Best of Computex 2025 award. TechTesters were equally impressed by the performance metrics of the next-generation NF-A12x25 G2, deeming it worthy of a Best of Computex 2025 award as well.

Aside from the busy show floor, the NF-A14x25 G2 was recognized as the best fan series, while the NH-D15 G2 earned the title of best CPU air cooler of the year from the European Hardware Association.

Noctua today presented the new NM-IMB8 offset mounting bars for the award-winning NH-D15 G2 flagship CPU cooler. By offsetting the heatsink 3.7mm towards the north and 2mm towards the east side of the socket, more pressure is applied right above the hotspot of Intel® 24- or 20-core LGA1851 CPUs, such as the Core® Ultra 9 285K or Core Ultra 7 265K. This improved contact exactly at the processor’s hotspot can reduce CPU temperatures by up to 3°C with HBC coolers and up to 1°C with the standard version (medium base convexity) of the NH-D15 G2.
 

 

“Our NH-D15 G2 has successfully established itself as a new benchmark for premium quality quiet CPU coolers, and we’re excited to further improve its performance on 24- and 20-core Intel LGA1851 processors with the new NM-IMB8 mounting bars”, says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). “By shifting the cooler closer towards the hotspot, LGA1851 owners can edge out up to 1°C using the regular NH-D15 G2 and up to 3°C using the HBC version.”

Intel LGA1851 CPUs with 24 or 20 cores such as the Core Ultra 9 285K or Core Ultra 7 265K feature a hotspot location shifted towards the north-east side of the package when running heavy multi-core loads. This off-centre hotspot location opens the door for cooling performance optimisation through shifting the cooler towards the hotspot in order to provide more concentrated contact pressure where it matters the most.

By offsetting the heatsink 3.7mm towards the north and 2mm towards the east side of the socket, the new NM-IMB8 mounting bars can reduce CPU temperatures by up to 3°C with HBC coolers and up to 1°C with the standard version (medium base convexity) of the NH-D15 G2. Since the standard version typically performs around 2°C better than the HBC version when both are used without offset, the first remains the recommended choice for LGA1851 as it achieves the best temperatures overall, both with and without offset mounting bars.

Replacing the standard mounting bars and re-using the original spacers and screws, the NM-IMB8 are a simple yet highly efficient measure for fine-tuning the thermal performance of NH-D15 G2 CPU coolers on high core count LGA1851 processors.

The NM-IMB8 mounting bars are available via Noctua’s website (as of today) or Amazon (starting in 2-3 weeks) for a service charge of EUR/USD 3.90 (website form) or EUR/USD 4.90 (Amazon) that helps to cover parts of the shipping and handling costs.

Caution: The NM-IMB8 are only compatible with NH-D15 G2 (standard, HBC and LBC models), NH-D12L, NH-L12S, NH-L12Sx77 and NH-L12 Ghost S1 edition heatsinks, please do not purchase for other coolers.
