Cooler Master CM Storm unveils Sirus headset

Cooler Master has revealed its CM Storm brand's latest gaming headset, the Sirus. The headset is aimed primarily at gamers but, says Cooler Master, has audio quality fit for[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK] discerning audiophiles, too.

The design is definitely what you would expect of a gaming headset, with a black, carbon-effect finish. The headset is fairly chunky, although as it fits eight speakers into the housing that's hardly surprising. These combine to let the Sirus deliver 5.1-channel and '3D' sound - with appropriate input material.

The headset is connected via a USB port, and features an in-line remote that controls the rear, centre and front channels independently. A so-called 'Tactical Tuning Centre' also allows adjustment of other audio settings, such as EQ tweaks.

A small, potentially useful feature is the mute indicator LED on the microphone, putting that handy information in view of a quick glance. The Sirus also has interchangeable ear-cups, aimed at ensuring it's possible to get a comfortable fit.

The expected cost of £85 means the CM Storm Sirus headset isn't cheap, but if it lives up to the promises of its spec. sheet, it might still be worth the asking price. The headset will be available from mid-August.
