Futuremark is a studio you typically associate with benchmarks, like 3DMark or PCMark, but there is also a game division for the company. You may know the company's first game, Shattered Horizon, but now Futuremark Game Studios [PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]is announcing a new game called Unstoppable Gorg. The game is of the space defence variety and it is inspired by sci-fi movies from the 1940s and 50s. The game pays homage to sci-fi movies of that time, with Futuremark describing it as having wholesome heroes, rubbery aliens, and dodgy special effects. In Unstoppable Gorg, you have to defend the solar system by sending satellites into orbit around planets, moon, and space stations. The solar system is being invaded by some fearsome aliens, and it is up to you to defend it. The game is like a tower defense game, but unlike those, you are able to move the satellites after you place them, opening up some new possibilities in how you can defend the planets. The aliens, known as the Gorg, hail from Planet X, which in the game's universe was discovered in 1951, and when discovered the Gorg launched a fleet to wipe out the rest of the solar system.
Unstoppable Gorg will be available later this year for the PC, Xbox Live Arcade, and the iPad.
