Κάποια ιδέα;

Χμ...

Grrrr, I have same problem from some time ago, I don't know what caused it, might be WindowsXP updates I did, grrrr. I have Dell Inspiron 8600 and WindowsXP SP2 preinstalled on it.

I'm an IT Consultant, IT fluent, from building hardware to leading team of programmers. I know CD read-only thing and many more glitches.

But this one is annoying!!! Tried everything I knew, from using cmd instead windows explorer, over changing security rights to logginng in as a different user from administrators group and taking ownership, but nothing works!!!!

Read-only stays that way no matter what I do! And further more, my LucasArts Star Wars Racer game won't save games anymore!!!! Did I throw my money for nothing or M$ did it?

Anyone with similar problem?

Λοιπόν υπάρχουν οι παρακάτω επιλογές.....

This is a known problem, see this article for more information:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;326549

Here's the workaround (taken from the above article):

"If a program cannot save files to a folder with the Read-only attribute, such as My Documents, change the Read-only attribute to System by using the Attrib command at a command prompt.

For example, to change the Read-only attribute to System for the C:\Test folder, use the following command:

attrib -r +s c:\test

Note that some programs may not operate correctly with folders that have the System attribute set. To remove both the Read-only and System attributes from the C:\Test folder, use the following command:

attrib -r -s c:\test

"

For the same problem in Windows 2000, see this article for the workaround:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;256614

The above comment is absolutely right for ur situation, but just in case, if u don't get it solved, u can also try to take ownerships of the folder which is creating problems.

My XP machine has been doing this too, and I found the fix

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;180257

Go to that article and follow the instructions to add this registry key, and it should fix it. After doing so, it worked right away, without re-boot or anything. The article eplains it best about the 'why' of the problem.

But to sum up the solution, you need to add this registry key to regedit:

Registry key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\New\ (Default)

Value for (Default):

{D969A300-E7FF-11d0-A93B-00A0C90F2719}

Or here is another way to say it that I found on another site:

"New Command Missing in Windows Explorer

Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ ContextMenuHandlers\New Key #1. Value Name: (Default), Data Type: REG_SZ (String Value), Value Data: {D969A300-E7FF-11d0-A93B-00A0C90F2719} Open your registry and verify that the above key is listed and has the exact value listed, and if needed, edit the value to match the value listed, or add this key if yours does not exist in your registry
