Επισημαίνω κάτι από το review:

This was our first look at a product from Thermaltake and CWT; CWT being the manufacturer behind many of Thermaltake's new power supplies. The Thermaltake Toughpower 1200w is possibly the most interesting power supply we have tested to date given its paper specifications. The Toughpower 1200w is also the largest capacity power supply we have tested to date eclipsing the 1000w range at 1200w.

The Bottom Line

What Thermaltake has managed to dish out to the competition by introducing the Toughpower 1200w is nothing short of brutal. Thermaltake has brought a PSU to retail that is so potent that the Toughpower 1200w will be a tall order for the competition to surpass in terms of quality and living up to the specifications printed on the packaging; both of which we find incredibly important. The Toughpower 1200w is still so new that it is hard to source, but certainly that will change shortly as it shows up at retailers. At $350 to $400 it is very expensive, but you do get what you pay for. The value and power that the Toughpower 1200w delivers is currently unmatched. Few users will need a power supply of this magnitude, but undoubtedly many will desire it.

The most outstanding thing about all the information presented on the Toughpower box is the seemingly amazing fact that Thermaltake appears to indicate this power supply is capable of producing nearly 100% of its output capacity on the 12v rails. Previously we have seen the Corsair HX620 come the closest to this by offering 97% but still not 100% of its capacity.

Κι όμως τα τροφοδοτικά δεν χρειάζονται δεύτερο ανεμιστήρα. Και μάλιστα ο 80άρης στο πίσω μέρος είναι ΠΙΟ αποδοτική λύση από τον 120άρη από κάτω. Ο σκοπός του ανεμιστήρα είναι να βγάζει τον ζεστό αέρα από το τροφοδοτικό και όχι να φυσάει ζεστό αέρα από το εσωτερικό του κουτιού πάνω στα εξαρτήματα, αλλά δυστυχώς οι περισσότεροι κατασκευαστές ακολουθούν την λύση του 120άρη (η ακόμα και 140άρη, κυρίως λόγω θορύβου αλλά και λόγω ότι βοηθάει στην ψύξη του κουτιού απίσης).

Ελπίζω να εγκαταλειφθεί σιγά-σιγά και να πάμε σε άλλες λύσεις. Αλλωστε αν περιμέναμε από τροφοδοτικό να μας βγάλει τον ζεστό αέρα έξω.. σωθήκαμε.

Με παραξένεψαν οι τρεις 8πινες PCI Express

Χμ, η τρίτη 8-πιν είναι για κάρτες Physics/VGA. Υπάρχει μία τάση να προστεθεί και 3η PCIe x8/x16 στα boards για κάρτες physics (όπως ήταν η Ageia) ή για 3η VGA (εφόσον βέβαια τα chipsets αποκτήσουν περισσότερες data lanes). Ηδη η Nvidia το μελετάει το θέμα για πάνω από 2 VGA (SLi).

Να το συνδυάσει με ένα κουτί για server ακόμη και με κουτί που να παίρνει δυο μητρικές για ανεξάρτητους υπολογιστές σε ένα κουτί.
