I use a 7MP Canon Ixus 70 in macro mode with lowest ISO setting (must be 80 or 100) and a cheap tripod from an Ebay Seller. Besides that, i have several background plates, such as aluminium, or plexi and of course you need always enough light, to get sharp photos.

For some editing i often use the Freeware Prg. "Photo Filtre"

You can buy a 2000 EUR cam with expensive lenses and other tools, without getting nice photos, because the MOST important mosaic stone is the person behind the cam, which should have a good taste and the "eagle eye" to show the object in an interesting location and should have a bit fantasy to use tools like a 5 Eur Led lamp for some extra light effects - which i used for those GPU waterblock pics with the black alu background :)
