Warning: Nightblade mastery has experienced some significant revisions which may result in loss of skill points and/or an invalid skill point assignment Art: Added Icon for the Inventor. Updated HUD with new design and animated resource bars. Updated In-game UI (Character sheet, smuggler, vendors, etc) Updated Act 1 House Textures Tech: Added codex page to the quest log window to store collected notes. Added in world item comparison tooltips. (Hold Alt and hover over an item on the ground) Added "move" keybinding. Press and hold to move to the location of the mouse cursor. Added "force move" keybinding. Hold to prevent targeting of enemies and objects. Added gender support for localizations. Added pet icons for aggressive/normal/defensive states. Added the World map to the Local Map UI, which has been resized. Added a larger minimap toggle to the top right of the screen which displays a larger area. Components can now be combined regardless of whether you meet the level requirements or not. Fixed a bug where the hotbar would fail to reload correctly when it contained multiple skills of the same type. Fixed a bug where skills on the hotbar would fail to work if a component was moved between items. Fixed a bug where enemies would get up incorrectly after being knocked down. Fixed a bug where skills which target in an arc would fail to hit additional enemies. Fixed a bug where monster pets would display incorrect death behavior when the master was killed. Fixed a bug where npc quest punctuation would be updated incorrectly. Fixed a bug where monsters were unable to resummon pets in a timely manner. Fixed a bug where mouse clicks could be registered by windows behind the skill pick area. Fixed a bug where pet skills would display incorrect pet stats for the skill level. Fixed an issue with Physique and Spirit from mastery not granting additional Health/Energy, respectively. Game: Some one-shot chests have been removed in Act 1 Rare and Epic drop rates have been improved on bosses and heroes Hero spawn rates have been increased The experience formula has been adjusted to scale better into the higher levels. You may notice existing characters suddenly gaining a level or two. You'll now get a small experience bonus for collecting lore objects / notes Adjusted mastery life per level to account for fix to physique life bonus. Total life is still a bit higher for each class. The Strange Key now grants a short quest reminding you to use it. Consequently, this means the key will stop dropping after you open the door. Characters that already opened the door will stop getting more keys to drop if they loot a key. The Inventor finally received that voice surgery she desperately needed Challenge areas: Some side dungeons meant to be especially challenging can now have a level offset, so that they spawn enemies and loot as though the player were higher level. Spawns will still be capped at a min/max for that area if the player is above or below that range. Example: Player is level 20, dungeon has offset of +2, it will spawn enemies and loot as though the player were level 22. A new hero archetype has been added: Frozen. This type of hero is mostly prevalent in Act 2, though you may encounter it in Act 1 as well. Giant Mosquitos, Wasps, Spiders and Harpies are now easier to target with ranged abilities. Nightblade: Shifted some mastery bonuses in favor of life to increase durability. Nightblade: Increased protection on phantasmal armor Nightblade: Increased frostburn damage on nightchill Nightblade: Slight boost to shadow dance's avoid attacks / projectiles and changed +%OA to +%DA Nightblade: Increased bleed on heart seeker and added %pierce. Nightblade: There is a new tier 1 melee attack called Lethal Gambit and corresponding tier 4 modifier, Amarasta's Blade Burst. It occupies the space Blade Trap was previously. Nightblade: Blade trap now has a radius effect, trapping the target and any adjacent enemies. The new more powerful version has taken Blade Swarm's place. Nightblade: Blade Swarm removed from mastery to make way for Lethal Gambit. Blade Swarm didn't fit well as it was a little too casterish and also difficult to balance so that it wasn't either useless or outclassed other skills. Nightblade: Belgothian's Sheers now causes 1.5s stun to enemies. Nightblade: Dual Blades is now a passive skill (as opposed to weapon pool with chance to proc) that enables dual wield and provides a constant pierce / %pierce bonus. Nightblade: Pneumatic Burst heal scaling increased slightly and pierce / %pierce replaced with %total dmg since the former was redundant with the new Dual Blades. Nightblade: Nightfall and Phantasmal Blades have each been moved up a tier as part of the restructuring. Soldier: Increased energy cost for blitz and forcewave, reduced %wpn dmg to forcewave. Soldier: Inreased starting damage on forcewave Soldier: Adjusted Markovian's Advantage to provide higher initial damage with absolute physical and a flat weapon damage %. Soldier: Reduced duration of regen on Will to Live by 1s. Soldier: Reduced scaling on Military Conditioning and Decorated Soldier. Occultist: Shifted some acid dmg from Blood Burst into poison. Occultist: Increased pet health slightly. Occultist: Reduced life steal on Sigil of Consumption. Demolitionist: Shifted % weapon dmg from fire strike to explosive strike so that the radius damage would benefit from it. In place, firestrike gains % physical dmg. Demolitionist: Increased speed of all projectiles. Demolitionist: Grenado cool-down reduced by .5s and radius increased slightly. Demolitionist: Blackwater Cocktail energy cost increased and damage slightly reduced. Demolitionist: Mastery bonuses shifted a bit in favor of life / physique to make class a little less squishy. Demolitionist: Increased health regen on Vindictive Flame. Demolitionist: Stun Jacks cooldown reduced from 3s to 2.5s Demolitionist: Added 50% chance of 1.5s stun to Cannister Bomb. Demolitionist: Added a small slowing component to Flashbang. Weapon Damage: Increased rate at which base weapon damage scales up. Enemies: adjustments to life and base physical damage 2h Guns: Increased damage to a level more befitting the 2-hand requirement. The following components had their stats adjusted: Aether Soul, Arcane Lens, Arcane Spark, Dread Skull, Hollowed Fang, Mark of Illusions, Mark of the Myrmidon, Restless Remains, Shard of Beronath, Spellwoven Threads Guardsman's Spaulders' Will to Live granted skill has been rebalanced and renamed New Epic gloves have been added to the 10-20 range (Embergrip Handguards) New Epic sword has been added to the 10-20 range (Willie's Razor) Slightly reduced run speed bonuses on items Chance on effects on some rare affixes have been shifted around so that loot will never generate two skill procs on one item Affixes affected by this change are: Devastating, Survivalist's, Overseer's, of Fury, Houndmaster's, Sandstorm, Glacial, Thunderstruck 7 new rare affixes were added to accommodate these shifts v0.2.3.4 (b17 - Hotfix) Art: New Nightblade "Lethal Gambit" skill animation New Nightblade "Blade Barrier" skill animation Vulture now have a new "Vomit" skill and animation. Tech: Fixed a pathing bug where opening doors which made them impassible. Fixed a bug where doors could sometimes be used at too large a range. Fixed a locale bug when using localization string recapitalization. Fixed a bug where skills could experience an excessive delay when firing. Weapon based attack skills (Lethal Gambit/etc) now use the default weapon attack when cooling down. Fixed a bug where RMB assigned skills could be re-fired when performing other actions. Fixed a bug where objects with attached fx would disappear on the edges of the player view frustum. Fixed a bug where ranged weapon hits were causing weak physics behavior. Added dutch font set (fonts=NL). Removed "item comparison" option (now always shown). Added "auto item tooltips" option. Enables automatically showing item tooltips for in world items. Removed show loot/filter broken keybind. Added show item tooltips keybind. NPC Dialog sounds now use the dialog volume level rather than soundfx volume. Friendly pets are no longer targetable when not using the target pet keybind. Fixed a bug where npc merchants could generate the same items. Fixed a bug where destructibles would drop unseeded items. Fixed an issue with one-shot chests that would cause them not to drop a guaranteed Epic (this issue was new in the 30+ level range) Game: Updated epic item loot tables. The level range scaled poorly into the 40's, resulting in level 20 epics dropping from level 45 monsters. Updated spirit requirements on rings and necklaces, reducing them by 20-30%, particularly at higher levels. Percent Physique, Cunning, Spirit, Offensive Ability and Defensive Ability bonuses on gear have been reduced. Absolute Offensive Ability and Defensive Ability on gear has been rebalanced. This primarily affects equipment of level 25 and above. Removed Offensive Ability affixes from Shield loot tables. With the exception of some uniques, shields will no longer generate Offensive Ability in their stats. This change is Not retroactive and only affects drops in B17 and beyond. Soldier: Increased %physical dmg on Decorated Soldier, while reducing %total damage on Squad Tactics. Demolitionist: Fixed an issue with Flashbang's Searing Light not working. The fumble component of the skill was rebalanced now that it actually works. Occultist: Hellhound's Hellfire Aura is now a radius buff with +%fire, +%burn and fire retaliation. Experience formula that determines how much experience is gained from killing enemies has been adjusted to slow down leveling. Based on the results, further adjustment may be required. This change shouldn't affect current character levels. Fixed an imbalance in the Regenerator hero archetype which caused it to regenerate too fast for most builds to handle. Fixed an issue with the Sunken Reliquary where the boss room was inaccessible. Fixed an issue with the Magistrate's Censor skill Fear not working and updates the skill's stats/name Fixed many other things!

    We're deploying Sacrifice of the Vaal tomorrow! The countdown on the site and game client indicates the time that the game servers will be up (which is 15 hours from the time of this post). We're taking the game servers down one hour beforehand. The website will be down for about 15 minutes at the start of that downtime, and available with the new passive tree for the 45 minutes after that. Players will also be able to patch during that hour. We have also made some additional changes to the update that are listed after the cut. Added the following patch notes: Increased the damage of Fireball at low and high levels. Increased the damage of the following skills at low levels: Spark, Cold Snap, Ice Spear and to a lesser extent, Freezing Pulse and Storm Call. Monster Unrighteous Fire now deals a controlled value of fire damage, rather than being based on maximum life. Improvements have been made to early cast speed passives in the Witch and Shadow sections and to early attack speed and life passives in the Shadow section. We're investigating more detailed revamps of the caster classes (Witch, Templar and Shadow) in the future. Adjusted the PVP scaling of Righteous Fire and Searing Bond. These have only been conservatively adjusted. A more thorough adjustment to PVP scaling of skills will be ongoing throughout 1.1.x.     Version 1.1.0: Sacrifice of the Vaal Notes: Due to substantial balance changes, every existing character has been granted an optional full passive reset. To use this, click the "Reset all Passives" button on the passive skill screen. Note that you must use this before allocating or refunding any other points otherwise the option will go away. New Four-Month Challenge Leagues: Four month challenge leagues are a great opportunity for a fresh start. All your old characters and items are still present in the Standard and Hardcore leagues, but you're encouraged to join the new economies, complete challenges and climb the ladder! The new challenge leagues include a set of eight new challenges! If you complete all of them, you'll receive an exclusive Ambush/Invasion challenge shirt. 23 players completed all the challenges in the last pair of four-month leagues. Ambush: Various new types of chests called Strongboxes can be found throughout Wraeclast. These chests are guarded by monsters that ambush the player when they are opened. The ambushing monsters must be slain before the contents of the Strongbox can be claimed. Sometimes you'll encounter magic, rare or unique Strongboxes which have mods like items do. Prefixes affect the difficulty of the ambush by adding more monsters, springing traps or affecting your character. Suffixes improve your rewards from the Strongbox. You can use currency items to reroll these mods. One of the new challenges is to open Strongboxes with each mod. Invasion: Invasion is a Hardcore league (characters who die are converted to Standard characters). In the Invasion league, areas of Wraeclast have substantially more monster variety, so players will run into unexpected and dangerous invading monsters from other levels or acts. A unique boss monster from an invading monster type is also lurking in each level. Higher difficulty levels contain expanded monster variety and the invading bosses with more abilities. One of the new challenges is to kill each invading Unique monster. A new item type has been added to the challenge leagues: Unset Ring. It's a ring with a socket as its implicit property. Eight new types of quivers have been added to the challenge leagues. The old quiver types do not exist in the challenge leagues. Out of the 13 total Unique items added in this update, there are two new Unique items that can only drop in either challenge league, plus one that can only drop in Ambush and one that can only drop in Invasion. Major Features/Content: Added a final encounter with Queen Atziri and her guardians in the Apex of Sacrifice. To access it, cleanse areas of Vaal corruption and look for fragments of their ancient civilisation. There's a competition where the first 50 players to kill Atziri and her guardians in each of the new challenge leagues will receive an exclusive Vaal-themed character effect. More information will be announced in the news. As you explore Wraeclast, you'll occasionally find Vaal-influenced secret corrupted areas that are indicated by a glowing, beating heart and swirling ribbons of blood. These corrupted areas have magical properties, similar to end-game maps, which substantially increase their difficulty. At the heart of each corrupted area is a new boss monster, guarding a chest that is guaranteed to drop a Vaal Skill Gem or Vaal Fragment. End-game maps do not contain secret corrupted areas. The Vaal civilization may have existed thousands of years ago, but it had its own form of Skill Gems. Brutally powerful and fueled by the sacrifice of foes, these gems are the ultimate version of many contemporary Path of Exile skills. Vaal Skill Gems charge up as you kill enemies and can be unleashed for a devastating effect. Where applicable, cosmetic microtransaction effects do work on the equivalent Vaal skills. There are 17 Vaal Skills Gems in this patch and more will be added in later updates. Added a new currency item: Vaal Orb. It corrupts a target item, modifying it unpredictably. Once an item is corrupted, further currency cannot be applied to it. This includes restoring imprints. There are many possible outcomes of corruption, some of which may be undesirable. Consider its use carefully! Added over 60 new boss monsters for secret corrupted areas and the Invasion league. They use complex combinations of skills and can be very dangerous. Higher difficulty versions often use more skills and supports. Added a new monster to Act One and Act Three: Soulless Watcher. It uses a charged up attack that blinds you if you're facing it. Free-for-all PvP is available in the Sarn Arena (at the top of the steps in the Sarn Encampment). Normal and Cruel difficulty Arenas have level caps of 40 and 60 respectively. Added 13 new Unique Items, some of which are Vaal themed and can only be dropped by Atziri herself. We've added some new cosmetic microtransaction skins: Seraph Body Armour, Seraph Helmet, Seraph Boots and Seraph Gloves. There's also a bundle that contains all four. Information on cut-throat events will be announced soon! Minor Features/Content: Added a new armour base type which only drops from Queen Atziri: Sacrificial Garb. Dozens of Unique items have been updated with their own 3d art. Many monsters throughout Wraeclast have been updated with improved death animations. This includes zombie dismemberment. Waypoints now have effects that indicate whether they are activated or not. You are now able to select between multiple OpenAL audio devices in the audio options. If you don't have a full bar of Stash Tabs, a button is now shown next to your last tab that allows you to purchase more. Vaal items can now also be found in the Vaults of Atziri. World objects that drop quest items now have green text. Golden Chests have been removed from most areas due to Corrupted Secret Areas taking over some of their role. They still exist in the Vaults of Atziri for the achievement. Several new shrine icons have been added so that the shrines can be more easily distinguished. Continued to incrementally improve the sound, art, effects and environments. General Balance: Shrines can now spawn in all leagues. The Thorned shrine no longer spawns. All rare monsters have a chance to spawn with a Nemesis mod, in all leagues. The Camouflaged Predator Nemesis mod no longer spawns. The Blessing of Elements Nemesis mod now does considerably more damage. The Shroud Walker Nemesis mod now gives the monster a smoke effect with a larger radius. The Storm Herald Nemesis mod will not appear until level 60. The way leech applies to the player has changed. If you leech additional life while currently leeching, it no longer queues after the current leech. Technically, where multiple leeches are stacked, the largest one is used. The Vaal Oversoul's Smash is now fully considered an attack. It can now be evaded or blocked, but cannot be spell blocked. Skill and Support Gem Balance: Spell Totem and Ranged Attack totem now have multiplicative cast and attack speed penalties. Barrage: the attack speed penalty has been removed. Desecrate: the maximum level of a created corpse has been changed to being higher than the required level of the skill. This scales up to a monster level cap of 100 by level 20 of the gem. Desecrate also now enforces a limit of 15 corpses at a time. Spectral Throw: this now deals 46% of weapon damage at level 1, but increases as it levels. By level 15 of the gem, you will dealing 60% of weapon damage. Burning Arrow: the ignite chance on levels over 20 continues to progress linearly, rather than slowing the progression as it previously did. All Support Gems now support values up to level 30. Passive Skill Balance: The Marauder starting area has been reworked substantially. The area between the Duelist and Marauder has been reworked substantially. The wheels of primary defenses around the Scion opening area have been changed to allow fast lateral progress. The values of the life wheel have been reduced. The Elusiveness notable has been removed. The effectiveness of early Scion passives have been reduced. Several Energy Shield passives have been improved. Most spell damage, elemental damage and specific elemental damage passives have been improved. Vaal Pact no longer suppresses life recovery from flasks. It still prevents life regeneration and now also reduces your leech by 60%. The Beserking notable passive now only offers 12% attack speed. Elemental Adaptation has been moved to between the Witch and Templar. Larger groups of critical strike multiplier have had some minor nodes removed. Item Balance: Two-Stone Rings can now drop in all leagues. Sanctified Life Flasks and Sanctified Mana flasks can now drop in all leagues. Jade Flasks and Quartz Flasks can now drop in all leagues. Prismatic Rings will no longer drop, but can still be crafted. The Taming can also be crafted. Unique items that were exclusive to Domination and Nemesis can no longer drop. The Increased Item Quantity Support Gem can no longer drop. Increased Item Quantity mods can no longer spawn on magic or rare items. Increased Item Quantity mods on Unique items have been reduced by around 30%. Reduced the implicit resistance values on hybrid strength/intelligence shields. Quivers are no longer awarded as quest rewards. Mods that provide critical multiplier have been reduced. A Fracturing mod has been added to the map affix pool. Unique Item Balance: Deshret's Vise has been renamed Meginord's Vise and the Attack Speed penalty has been removed from it. Old versions will not change. The following Unique items have been changed (using a Divine Orb on an existing version will roll new mods in the new ranges): Aegis Aurora: the Replenishes Energy Shield based on your Armour when you Block mod has been reduced from 4% to 2%. Rainbowstride: Elemental Resist has been increased from 8% to 20%. Maximum Mana has been reduced from 80-100 to 40-60. Increased Energy Shield has been reduced from 150-200 to 140 to 180. Saffell's Frame: Block Chance Applied to Spells has been reduced from 100-120 to 70-80. All Maximum Resistance has been reduced from 5% to 4%. Bringer of Rain: Maximum Life has been reduced from 200-220 to 120-160. The supporting Blind is now level 6 and the supporting Faster Attacks is now level 12. On a legacy Bringer of Rain item, a Divine will reroll the Maximum Life, but not the level of the supports. Maligaro's Virtuosity: Critical Multiplier has been reduced from 40-50 to 28-36. Romira's Banquet: Critical Multiplier has been reduced from 10-20 to 10-15. Bug Fixes: Fixed a bug in the race prize awarding where multiple characters on the same account could receive points prizes for the same race. Now, the highest level (alive) character that participated counts for points. Multiple characters can receive points in Descent, Descent: Champions and Endless Ledge races. Fixed various graphical glitches related to totems with arrows stuck in them. Fixed a bug where secondary hits from Lightning Arrow would not check evasion. Fixed a bug where the gore projectiles fired by Dominus, Ascendant would check spell evasion instead of attack evasion for their area of effect. Fixed a problem that could cause crashes on certain Creative sound hardware. Fixed some bugs with the 40% quality vendor recipe so that it better accounts for certain groups of items. Gem experience is now displayed with correct thousands separators. Fixed a bug where the the Ice Nova graphical effect wouldn't scale correctly. Fixed a bug where Offering skills would affect some shrine effects on you. Various bugs were fixed related to the display of skill tooltips. Fixed bugs with font keming. Please note that we'll be updating the above notes over the next couple of days as development continues.

    The four-month Domination and Nemesis challenge leagues will end at 8pm PST on February 23 (this is 5pm NZT on February 24). This news post describes how the process works and what properties of those leagues will make their way into the core game afterwards. The characters in these leagues will transfer to their parent leagues. Domination characters will transition to Standard and Nemesis characters will transition to Hardcore. Please note that this process is not instant - it can take some time. Your stash tabs from the challenge leagues will also transition to their parent leagues as remove-only tabs. This is so that you aren't penalised for not having enough stash tabs. Remove-only tabs will last until the items are removed from them. Once you remove an item from a remove-only stash tab you cannot return it to that stash tab. New challenge leagues will start on March 5 (when the 1.1.0 mini-expansion is deployed), so there is a period where the only leagues are Standard and Hardcore. This is a good opportunity to consolidate your long-term wealth and share items between characters from different past challenge leagues. One of the purposes of the challenge leagues is to trial new game features that may later be incorporated into the game as a whole. There are some previously trialled changes which will be applied to the permanent leagues, but these changes will not be made until the 1.1.0 update on March 5th. Here are the set of changes related to Domination/Nemesis that are being made to the main game: The new base types introduced in the challenge leagues will be joining the main game. Two-Stone Rings, Sanctified Life and Mana Flasks, Quartz Flasks and Jade Flasks will drop in all leagues from 1.1.0 onwards. Prismatic Rings will no longer drop, but can still be obtained from vendor recipes. The Unique items from the challenge leagues will not drop any more, but may return as race rewards or drops at some later time. Item quantity will be revisited in 1.1.0. We are highly likely to prevent the Item Quantity support gem from dropping in 1.1.0 and to prevent the Item Quantity mod from spawning on magic or rare items. Item Quantity will continue to exist on Unique items, but we may review its magnitude. Old mods and items will not be removed or changed for players who currently have them. Powerful legacy items are a feature of the permanent leagues. Nemesis mods will start to occasionally spawn on rare monsters in the core game. When a rare monster spawns, there's a percentage chance that it receives a Nemesis mod. It will still be in addition to prefixes and suffixes. Some Nemesis mods will be adjusted, removed, or transformed into a regular prefix or suffix. Shrines will be added to the core game. They will not spawn as frequently as in the Domination league and some may be rebalanced. The new challenge leagues begin on March 5, and will include exciting new league mods, challenges, unique items and base item types. In addition, the substantial changes in the 1.1.0 mini-expansion (which is deployed as the new leagues start) bring new game features to all leagues. Players who completed all eight challenges in Domination and Nemesis will be sent a special t-shirt. We'll announce the winners and collect their details once the leagues have ended. The new challenge leagues will have their own sets of challenges and a similar prize for people who complete them all. We've taken extensive feedback into account when designing these challenges. Many of the challenges relate to either new league-specific properties of new 1.1.0-specific content. More information on this (including the names of the new leagues) will be available in the coming weeks!
