Bill Gates believes that a better reproductive health can help reduce population growth, people with better access to reproductive healthcare and education, especially birth control, tend to have less kids. There is not 9 billion people on the earth, at the time of this, it was 6.8. Now 7.He wasn't talking about lowering the current population, he was talking about lowering the rate at which it multiplies. At first glance, it looks like he's saying vaccines will kill 10 or 15% of the population. But if you look a little deeper and long-term, you see that healthier societies tend to have lower birth-rates. In poor societies with lots of disease, parents have more children because they know only a few will survive, and they will need younger kids to take care of them when they get old and sick. With the security of proper health care, families are likely to have only a few children.Increased health care reduces population over time, particularly as part of an increase in general standard of living. The very poor in many countries only manage to survive by having a lot of children, because so many die in infancy and because the parents' ill health in later life and lack of social services requires children to look after them. Having more children than are needed is an insurance policy that results in high population growthThis is high school social studies. He's talking about reducing birth rates by improving healthcare. Poor countries have extremely high child mortality rates, so parents have to make crazy number of kids in the hope that some of them will survive. In this sense, Gates is talking about reducing 10-15% of the projected 9 billion people (by 2050), not reducing 10-15% of the current 6.8 billion.
