For many in the overclocking community, the notion of actually throwing away hardware is insane. We keep our old boards, processors and memory, stashing them away for day when they might once again become relevant beyond the realms of simple nostalgia. And that day has now arrived as HWBOT.org kicks off its first ?Old School is Best School? contest on OC-Esports.io.

The idea for the contest was born from a desire among the OC community to take a journey down memory lane hardware-wise. Anyone old enough to remember the days when we had a choice of chipset vendors and an age where CPU sockets supported Intel, AMD and Cyrix, is in for a real treat.

Old School is Best School: Contest Overview

The Old School is Best School contest is a team OC competition series for the overclockers who really want to relive the good old days and benching older, classic hardware. The series includes five rounds, each with two stages. From the truly ancient Socket 3 platform to a Voodoo card face off, each round lasts two months, giving you have plenty of time to track down and dust off the hardware you need to compete.

Today HWBOT is kicks off Round 1 of the contest which will run from today, April 1st, through to May 31st. Subsequent rounds will overlap and commence through to the end of September with each focusing on a different retro platform coupled with a specific benchmark. Check the details below:

Round 1: April 1st to May 31st

Round 2: May 1st - June 30th

Round 3: June 1st - July 31st
