I apologize if things were not explained in details for you by the previous agents. I took over the ticket because the status of your refund was delayed due to incorrect information provided for processing the refund.
The standard proceeds for a regular RMA requires to the customer to send their defective product to Corsair prior to us sending you a replacement unit. The replacement will only be shipped out once the defective unit has been received. This process can take one to two weeks because of the shipping time and because some customers do not want to deal with the down time we offer an Advanced RMA option. The Advanced RMA option is where we will send the replacement unit in advanced as long as the customer provides a credit card so that we can apply a collateral hold. The collateral hold is typically the retail cost of a brand new unit so in this case, the collateral hold for a H100 V2 will be $130 USD. We will refund the collateral hold back to the credit card as long as we receive the defective unit. In the event that we do receive the defective unit, we do not refund the collateral hold.
You received a replacement H100i V2 back in January 2018 but recently reached out to us in August 2018 stating that the unit you received was having trouble and wish to not proceed with another RMA, you requested for a refund instead. A refund issued is based on the original purchased price minus a surcharge of 10% per year for usage from the original date of purchase whether it is still the original unit or it was unit received under warranty. When we replaced your unit, the warranty does not start over, it carries over the original remaing warranty period. So the refund of $103.92 USD was calculated based off of the original purchase price of €112.82 that you paid for the unit on October 18, 2016 which does not include any taxes, duties, or shipping costs. We issue all refunds in USD so we had to convert the original purchase price to USD. So based on the currency rates at the time of the request, €112.82 = $129.61 USD. The previous agent added a 20% surcharge for two years but technically it should had been just 10% for one full year from the original date of purchase. So the final amount that the request was submitted for was $129.61 - 20% = $103.92 USD which was approved by our management team.
To be really honest with you, we can put in another request another refund for $25.69 USD but it will not be issued as a wired transfer, it will have to be a check instead as the the minimum amount to process a wired transfer is $50 USD. The check can be mailed to you but please be aware that it takes 4-6 weeks for processing and receive the check in the mail. If you are okay with the check, please let me know and I can put in the refund request. Please make sure with your bank that if we do issue you a check, they will not charge you any international fees for cashing a check with in USD instead of Euros. If they do, then you won't receive the full amount of $25.69 USD.
