4x bonus for artistic impression!

New Carmageddon: Reincarnation Details; drivers can be ejected, cops will be back, LAN support

Stainless Games has revealed some brand new details about their upcoming Carmageddon game. According to the company, Carmageddon: Reincarnation will support LAN which will be available while you are offline too. The amazing Pratcam of the first Carmageddon will return and Stainless has already booked Tony (the man who was shown in the Pratcam of Carmageddon) for his comeback.

In case you’re unaware of, Pratcam was a feature on the HUD in Carmageddon and the Splat Pack. The top-left of the screen showed a “reaction cam” of the driver in his/her cockpit during the race.

Moreover, cops will be back in Carmageddon: Reincarnation, with standard squad car that’s easily wrecked, APC style that’s harder, and the return of the Oppressor.

Players will be able to see the drivers in other cars and those drivers will, sometimes, be ejected through the windscreen of their car as the result of a massive impact.

Last but not least, Stainless will be using Steamplay for online MP on PC and if cross-play can be implemented effectively, they will try to incorporate it.

Carmageddon: Reincarnation is planned for a February 2013 release on the PC and Mac first and on Linux, PS3 and Xbox 360 at a later date.

God damn' moth......er!

Just like in old Carma!

Κάπου πρέπει να τα έχω κρατημένα... all of them!

Carmageddon is coming to GOG

Stainless Games today announced a partnership with digital distributor GOG.com. Together they are pleased to announce the return to Windows PC of the original “Points for Pedestrians” driving game ‘Carmageddon’ (plus its add-on pack, ‘The Splat Pack’) in the near future.

Neil Barnden, Stainless co-founder and Executive Director on Carmageddon: Reincarnation said:

“Since we got the rights to Carmageddon back, we’ve been hearing from the community how much they’d love to be able to play the original games again, on a modern Windows PC. We’ve been hearing this message even louder since launching our Kickstarter campaign to help fund our next title in the series, Carmageddon: Reincarnation. The message from the gaming community is loud and clear: Give us something to play, while we wait for the new Carmageddon! So, that’s exactly what we’ve done.”

Trevor Longino, Head of Marketing and PR at GOG.com, added:

“Many of us at GOG.com are big fans of the Carmageddon franchise, and the Carmageddon games are perfect examples of the kind of classic games that we love to bring to our gamers: great gameplay, tons of fun, and a unique experience. Being able to help support the developers by providing backers with copies of this classic game was just icing on the cake for us”.

Patrick Buckland, Stainless CEO concluded:

“Thanks to our friends at GOG.com, the streets of Bleak City will once again echo to the screams of little old ladies shrieking, “I was in the war!” as they (and their walking frames) go sailing through the air.”

Awesome, right? Carmageddon is still highly enjoyable and we are sure that most of you will want to replay it. Carmageddon is currently undergoing preparation at the hands of GOG.com’s expert contentologists, and will be added to the catalog as soon as possible. Let’s just hope that the GOG version will be based on the GLIDE patched version of the original Carmageddon game.

We're working our way around the original "Blood on the Rooftops" track, as a test-bed for prototyping and developing the game. It involves designing and building the level geometry, working out the ped tech, testing handling, collision shape mods, physics stuff, PUp ideas, etc. etc... Basically, this prototyping process enables us to write the WHOLE GAME, and have fun while we do it! :D It’s the same way that we developed the original game – as a constantly evolving prototype (based on a solid, written core design, of course!). The approach is: Get something up and playable as early as possible, then try stuff out!

Carmageddon dev: “Humour is the key selling point”
Carmageddon dev, Stainless Games, has told an industry crowd at Develop that it never expected its 1997 original death-racer to be quite as controversial as it turned out to be, but joked that the team would be “heartbroken” if it doesn’t ruffle feathers with its 2013 reboot.
