Αναβάθμιση σε onboard renesas usb 3.0 firmware

Στη προσπάθεια να πάρω κανένα παραπάνω kb/s από το usb 3.0 φλασάκι αναβάθμισα οδηγούς και firmware του onboard renesas της μητρικής (P67A UD3P). Επειδή λίγα πράγματα δουλεύουν όταν πρέπει, όπως πρέπει το παραθυρικό πρόγραμμα αναβάθμισης γκρίνιαζε οτι έχω πάνω από έναν στη μητρική και τερμάτιζε δίχως άλλη επιλογή. Απλά αφήνω τη διαδικασία εδώ σε περίπτωση που φανεί χρήσιμο σε κάποιον, με δική σας ευθύνη κλπ. κλπ.

Αρχικά κατεβάζουμε οδηγούς και firmware από εδώ:

Αναβαθμίζουμε τους οδηγούς πρώτα, αυτή είναι εύκολη και προβλέψιμη διαδικασία. Ανοίγουμε το usb 3.0 host controller utility που έρχεται με τους οδηγούς. Αν φοράμε το τελευταίο firmware δεν χρειάζεται τίποτα άλλο.

Υπάρχουν δύο εκδόσεις του renesas, uPD720200 και uPD720200a με 3.0.3.4 και 4.0.2.0 τελευταίο firmware αντίστοιχα.

Κατεβάζουμε και το προηγούμενο πακέτο firmware // Firmware Vers: 3.0.2.8.0.8 (uPD720200) & 4.0.1.5.0.2 (uPD720200a) // γιατί περιέχει το W200FW35.exe που θα χρειαστούμε παρακάτω.

Κατα τη διαδικασία αφαιρούμε όλα τα usb περιφερειακά που συνδέονται σε 3.0 υποδοχές.

Αποσυμπιέζουμε τα πάντα, από το τελευταίο πακέτο firmware θα χρειαστούμε μόνο το .MEM αρχείο. Εγώ είχα V4 οπότε το αρχείο είναι F402003.MEM. Ανοίγουμε ένα elevated command prompt (ως διαχειριστής) και πάμε στο φάκελο που περιέχει το W200FW35.exe:

Πρώτο βήμα απλά τρέχουμε το .exe:

W200FW35.exe

Bus:0x02 Device:0x00 Function:0x00 <-- Διεύθυνση στο pci bus, θα χρειαστεί παρακάτω

This Device is uPD720200A(Revision 4). <-- Εδώ βλέπουμε ξανά το revision

Bus:0x03 Device:0x00 Function:0x00 <-- Τα ίδια για τον 2ο ελεγκτή

This Device is uPD720200A(Revision 4).

W200FW35.exe /? δίνει πληροφορίες για όλα τα διαθέσιμα switches. Το τρέχουμε με τις ακόλουθες παραμέτρους.

Με /dump μπορούμε να κάνουμε backup το firmware.

W200FW35 /srom 0 /address 02-00-00 /dump ren-02.mem

W200FW35 /srom 0 /address 03-00-00 /dump ren-03.mem

Για να περάσουμε το νεο firmware τρέχουμε:

W200FW35 /srom 0 /address 02-00-00 /write F402003.MEM cfg.ini

Επαναλαμβάνουμε για τον δεύτερο ελεγκτή

W200FW35 /srom 0 /address 03-00-00 /write F402003.MEM cfg.ini

Μετά την αναβάθμιση κλείνουμε τελείως τον υπολογιστή και στην επόμενη εκκίνηση ο ελεγκτής θα ξαναεγκατασταθεί από τα windows και με το usb 3.0 host controller utility μπορούμε να δούμε οτι βρίσκεται στο τελευταίο firmware.

Εντοπισες κάποια διάφορα στις επιδόσεις τελικώς?

Μπα τίποτα, τουλάχιστον οχι με το φλασακι. Τουλάχιστον έχω τα bug fixes τώρα, το προηγούμενο fw είχε βγει πριν από 2 χρόνια.

- The following problems are fixed.
 1. Fixed the USB3.0 Host Controller in D3hot didn't send the PME Message 
   when it received any wakeup events.

 2. The following issue is fixed by ver 2.1.19.0 of RENESAS USB 3.0 Host
   Controller Driver, but there was a possibility that this could still 
   occur in Windows 8:

   1. USB3.0 devices aren't detected when users perform the below steps.
    a) Turn on a PC.
 Enter sleep (S3 state) without connecting USB3.0 devices.
    c) Connect USB3.0 devices to a USB3.0 port during S3 state.
    d) USB 3.0 HDD isn't detected.
   The USB3.0 devices aren't detected after the PC resumes from S3 state.
   With Windows 7 or earlier, this issue only occurs with driver Ver.2.1.16.0.

 3. There is a possibility that the USB 3.0 Host controller cannot notify 
   the xHCI Driver when the Host controller receives the following contiguous
   Device Notification Transaction Packets:  Function Wake Notification, 
   Latency Tolerance Message (LTM) Device Notification, Bus Interval Adjustment
   Message Device Notification.
   We have never seen this problem on a real system.
 4. Improved the interoperability of UAS devices in Windows 8.
 5. The following issue is fixed by ver 2.1.19.0 of RENESAS USB 3.0 Host 
   Controller Driver, but there was a possibility that this issue could 
   still occur in Windows 8:

   2. There is a possibility of bluescreen caused by Hot-Plug operation of a
     USB3.0 Hub connecting USB3.0 devices. With Windows 7 or earlier, this issue only occurs 
     with Ver 2.1.16.0.
 6. Failed the TD7.3 of Link Layer test by using Ellisys Version : 2.0.4210 
   and Lecroy Version F 1.35 Build107 or later.
   This issue arose from changing the Link Layer test specification.
